I have a white MacBook I purchased new in December 2006. For a while now the screen will not light up after a start up/wake up and positioned at greater than ~30 degrees. Here's what I mean:

Computer has been off or asleep for, say, 30 minutes plus.

I open the lid to power on or wake up.

If the screen is opened greater than about 30 degrees, it will remain dark as though the brightness is all the way off. If less then 30 degrees, the screen lights up (though it's useless at such a small angle off the keyboard).

After about 5 minutes or so, the screen will stay bright past 30 degrees to almost upright, then dark past upright to about 110 degrees, then bright until opened to it's full (130 degrees or so?).

Once warmed up (8 to 10 minutes depending on ambient temperature), the screen acts normally and can be moved to any degree of open.

I'd like to try fixing it myself, if possible. Any ideas what may be causing it?
