I went overseas last month and opened my late 2013 13" MacBook Pro Retina up at the hotel after 32 hours of travel- only to find that there was no video. Tried to reset SMC and PRAM. Spoke to Apple Chat. No luck. They recommended that I bring to authorized Apple reseller for physical troubleshooting, but I elected to wait 2 weeks for my return to the US to deal with this issue.

I went to the Apple Genius Bar and they tried to SMC and PRAM reset and also hooked up an external display. Still no video. Diagnosis: failed logic board.

Resolution: send to Apple Depot in Houston for additional troubleshooting and repair: $100 labor +$375 flat rate repair + tax.

Received unit back via Fed Ex on Day #4 (dropped off Mon, received Thurs morning): replace A1502 LCD panel. (same model used in mid 2014 13" MacBook Pro Retina as well)

~$510 with CA tax.

If you are sure that it's the display, there are less expensive sources if it's an out of warranty replacement (ifixit, powerbookmedic, etc). If not, logic board could still be an issue. Free diagnostic and estimate at Apple Genius appointment.
