macbook screen went black when installing leopard

its what the title said what happened ?
At what stage of the installation did it go black?
Did the machine turn off?
How long did you wait for the black screen to disappear?
waited for 10 mins and it was at about a min for lik 10 mins the screen i could see if it was infront of light otherwise it was black
