Hello
I am a complete newbie to Mac and in the last month bought a white MacBook.

Everything is good apart from a yellow tint on the bottom of the screen. This tint is about 1 inch high and fades.

Anybody come across this before.

Thanks in advance.

It is a "feature" of some LED TFT 15" MBPs. Maybe Apple has extended this successful program to the MacBooks as well.

He's got a MacBook, not a MacBook Pro. CFL 13.3" screen, not a 15.4".

I've not heard any problems really with the MacBook screens - have you tried calibrating it? (System Preferences --> Display --> Color).

There is an issue with some of the MacBook Pro's having yellowing, but not heard anything for the MacBook's.

If calibration does not fix the yellowing, then it is a defect presumably covered under warranty. Many people who have had the same problem with their MBP were able to get a replacement by taking it in to an Apple Store. If you don't have an Apple Store nearby, then you should definitely call Apple if the yellowing is in the least bit annoying -- you didn't pay for a defective Mac.

Cheers :)

I was in fry's electronics today looking at the new MBP 15 inch model with the matte screen and it looked great dead on, but then I moved to the left to look at it from a side angle, and it was pretty yellow/brownish almost. Of course this isn't how you normally view it, but I'm wondering if this model had the faulty LED screen?

Pics !

How about some pics ?, I saw plenty of threads.. but pics... none.

I was at a reseller yesterday, they had one of those new MBP 15", the screen is absolutely gorgeous. Very bright and even, and matte. My glossy MB, is not as glossy as the Peecees :D :apple:

Thanks for the replies.

I calibrated the screen and that helped slightly

I will call Apple Care on Monday to see if they can sort me out. Intially I thought that it was nothing but it seems to be still there. However t seems to be subjective as my wife thinks that I am mad!!

Thanks again.

No, it's how all TN-panels are.

You can get a few Lenovo T60/T61/T62 notebooks without that effect because a few of them have IPS-panels but that's all.
