I had a 2011 macbook pro that I initially bought upgrade pieces (SSD and RAM) to make it run smoother...but then the trackpad couldn't click and I realized it was the battery expanding. So then with the battery cost, ssd and ram cost, and eventually needing a new charger adapter I decided to just go new.

Anyway, what's the best deal others have gotten on their macbook purchase? I'm looking for the base model with 256gb. The best I saw was from adorama.com at $975 for the 2016 and best buy $1,199 (2017 version).

I'm going to reach out to adorama and see if they price match best buy and will honor any education discount

Both Adorama and B&H will price match BBY.

Use a cashback site to get $$ back.

unfortunately, I'm in NJ, so the sales tax adds up.

i'm a little lost-what cashback site? I mean i know of credit card rewards.

Basically something like ebates. You put in the store and then go via the portal of the cashback site that is giving the highest amount of cashback.

If you have discover card, discover gives 5% cashback on apple if you shop using their portal. Ask Apple to price match, they will price match the difference upto 10% of the price.

Looking at befrugal. So If I bought it from adorama I would then see 2% cash back..

I just saw chase has 2% cash back on Apple store and 1% best buy and 5% if using Android pay, so ill look into that as 6% or 7% would be nice return.

Thanks

Lol. YMMV for sure.

Might be worth trying for though, or refurbished same price and such for 1099. After using mine for 4 hours I am more than pleased, totally worth it! just doo it. Unless you are using credit card to double warranty (id get refurb for 1099)
