I have an early 2015 Macbook and an iPhone 7 in the Apple Battery Case, when I placed the iPhone on the macbook to the side of the trackpad the macbook went dead and when i removed the iPhone it came back on like nothing ever happened. Has anyone seen anything like this?

There is a magnet over there that is used by the MacBook to sense when the lid is closed, and that makes the MacBook go to sleep. I think what you are seeing is your phone triggering that magnetic sensor and making the MacBook go to sleep.

Makes sense, it's only when the battery case is on the phone and only when that battery case is charged
