i feel like my macbook sound is too low , even when i connect it to my reciever , is there any way i could connect something like a external sound card or something to make it sound louder? im looking to use it in an bar - restaurant

One of these would do the job nicely. Just connect the amp to the headphones output (don't run it on maximum at first, find a volume you think sounds about right when compared to a CD player, and then decrease it a small amount).

i don't know about buying expensive i/o's like those, they'll certainly do the job however

maybe it's whatever program you're using. Are you mostly having low volumes with iTunes? If so THIS is really useful for a good boost.

Or is it for digital audio software? if so then maybe you should get an amp of some sort.

Have you gone to the sound settings in sys prefs and checked if they're maxed out?

Is you system a lot louder when you plug say...an iPod into your receiver?
