MacBook Speakers? turnoff?

my MacBook speakers have been turning off every time i start playing a song. it is every song i start. it happens after about 3 seconds of play. i have turned off the macbook and left it off for a hour and that did nothing i have repaired permissions nothing. should it go back to apple? will i have to pay for repairs?

What apps do you have running when you play your songs?
How much ram do you have in the machine?
Are you using itunes to play your music?

Reinstall iTunes. iTunes 7 seems to be the most likely culprit here.

the only programs running are ical, safari, itunes and word. 512mb ram.
