Hello, let me first explain the situation.

I have a MacBook Pro, the late 2008 model I believe, with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and 4gb of RAM.
I just recently bought a used MacBook off amazon for $250 that has an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (Same as MacBook Pro) but with only 2gb of RAM.

Since they share the same processor I figured the speed would be relatively the same, the MacBook perhaps a little slower. This is not the case!

The MacBook Pro rarely freezes or locks up when doing anything, even intense stuff in Final Cut Pro and compressor. However the MacBook will lock up and freeze constantly, even when doing simple things such as safari! But more usually when using iMovie (fcp is almost unusable)

So my question is, why is the MacBook sooooo much slower? I can only think of 2 reasons, 1. It has half the amount of RAM, and 2. It has a slower Graphics Card.

So I'm wondering what you guys think. Do you think I should upgrade the RAM on the MacBook to 4gb (or even higher)? Or is it just gonna be slower, and there's nothing I can do?

Thanks a lot for your help!

PS. I should mention the MacBook Pro is running Mac OS X 10.8, and the MacBook is running Mac OS X 10.7 (highest apple allows).

Thanks again!
