I recently took my Macbook over to an Apple retail store because I was having trouble installing the latest software update and they took care of it. I was now running on a Mac Os X 10.5.8 and everything was up to date, but when I got home, I ran into a little problem.

Whenever I initiate the computer, it goes to the gray screen with the Apple logo and rotation below, then to the blue screen which takes longer, then back to the gray screen again. After a while, it goes to the Desktop with the mouse cursor and applications visible. But here's the interesting part. Though the applications are clearly visible and I' am able to move the cursor around, the Apple header (where the File, Edit, Tools, AirPort, battery charge, time, etc.) is completely invisible and I'm unable to click anything. It's a major pain considering I'm eventually going to have to shut it down the unethical way.

I already ran a Disk Utility check about a thousand times and everything was in order. I'm certainly not going through the hassle of re-installing the entire system for the third time either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
