MacBook starting to misbehave

Looking for some advice on a misbehaving MBP...

Wife’s 2015 MBP has started playing up badly - picture shows one of the scenarios where the screen just displays rubbish and can only be solved by turning it off, giving it a minute and trying again.

Haven’t done any recent work on the machine although did upgrade to a larger OWC drive around 18 months ago.

Suggestions welcome, and thanks in advance

if this is happening after nvram, smc and macos reset (full driver erase during install) on sierra or high sierra, then it looks like some form of hw failure.
