I am considering getting the 256GB MacBook Retina. Will that storage option be an issue with the photos and movies I have stored in the Mac Photo App?

I have my 27” iMac set to “Download Originals to this Mac”. I would set the new MacBook Retina to “Optimize Mac Storage”.

Right now my Photo Library.photoslibray on the iMac is at 47GB

Other than photos I think 256GB model will be fine for me but I don’t want to regret not getting the 512GB later as I add more photos.

Thanks

If you have no plans to download the originals, then even as the library grows you should be fine. Frankly, at 47GB you'd probably be fine downloading the originals. For most users 256GB is probably fine unless you want everything offline, or have large movie collections you'd like to keep on the device.

Great. Thanks.
