Why is my laptop so hot? its not blocked, and i dont have too many apps running. Only Firefox and Mail. Is there something wrong? Could prolonged heat damage the internal components? I've tried restarting the macbook :S

repair permissions in disk utility.

Is that a joke? :rolleyes:

That's 78C which is perfectly within it's operating temperature. Core shutdown happens at 100C, and I'd be uncomfortable with anything 90C or above. Laptops run hot, it's not a defect.

looking at the website: HERE it says the running temp is

* Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)

Operating temperature is the outside air temperature not the temp of the cpu.

Open Activity Monitor and see what is using the cpu - normal MacBook cpu temps are around 45-55°C - whatever that is in Fahrenheit 100-120 or something.
