Hello,

3 days ago I experienced that my macbook white (2010) took around 17 h to charge. This came very suddenly, and after I just reset the PRAM. I have no idea if these two are connected, and I am in general vey bad with computers.

I never had the feeling the battery has been getting worse or so, it just went from normally functioning to this; needing 17 hours to charge to 100%.
It doesn't matter which charger I use. Also, i tried to reset the SMC with no result.

Any idea what to do next? I'm panicking because I don't know if it's ok to plug in the charger or if that will make the problem worse :/

PRAM/NVRAM has nothing to do with battery/power/charging issues. Resetting it will not help. Only resetting the SMC addresses such issues.
There are many possibilities why your battery may take longer to charge. Your battery, charger or logic board may have a hardware problem. You could also have an app or process that is placing a high demand on system resources. It's normal for your MBP to draw power from both AC and battery during periods of extreme demand, such as gaming or other multimedia operations. This can cause your battery to stop charging or even drain, even though it's plugged in. Read the AC POWER section of the following link.

The link below should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you take the time to read it.

Just to be sure...when you reset the SMC

-unplug from power adapter
-remove battery
-press and hold power button for 5 seconds (I just count slowly to 10)
-reinstall battery
-plug power adapter back in
-boot

Just got this issue on one of my early 2011 15" macbooks pro. I tried reseting the SMC but the charging will still take 4 hours to charge from 70% to 100%. It's a new battery and I am charging it now for the second time. The first time the charging time was normal so I don't think it's the battery.

Really you just put a new battery in and don't think it's the battery, it's logic like that that is the bane of this world....

I putted the new battery in my other laptop today and it charges normal. I start thinking that maybe the logic board was damaged when the old battery started to expend. My original Apple battery from the other mac it's charging slowly in that laptop too... Plus the mac with problems was used without battery for more than 1 year.

On an off chance, is this new battery genuine Apple battery or third party?
The new one it's third party but I changed it with my original one from the other laptop and that laptop still charges slow. The new battery works perfect on the other mac.
