I wanted to open an old word file today but when I was looking through my documents I saw that only files from the past 6 months-1 year were showing. I've had this computer since 07 and there should be way more .doc files available than are at the present moment. This happened once before, maybe a few months ago, but that time all I had to do was search in finder and the old documents popped up. I don't know if there is another way to search, or maybe some secret place where the computer stores particularly old files? Is it relevant that I was using (what I think was a test version) Microsoft Pages for a few years before reinstalling Word? Note: both the versions of pages and word that I have are fairly old i.e 07-08. I use this computer mostly for writing and I'd really like to know that it's not just going to randomly delete old work, or else I'll have to start backing everything up on gmail all the time.
