I noticed that my new rmbp sometimes is switched off after i closed the lid.
i have to then push the on-button for quite long to start it up again.
its not a huge problem because this doesn't happen too frequently and my startup time is approx. 5 sec.
has anyone else noticed this issue?

What your seeing isn't the macbook switching off. Its failing to come out of sleep so your stuck at a black screen. I have had this a few times since i upgraded to Mavericks on my 2012 rMPB 13 and its very frustrating. The fact that you are holding down the power for a while means (like me) that your forcing it to reboot from this locked up state.

Sometimes, if i give it a bit (15-20 seconds) it will eventually come out of sleep. I'm hoping that 10.9.2 will help the problem and haven't seen it since that update but time will tell.

I might also mention, in the past when this has occurred (happened in Lion a few times) i was able to stop i by turning off Safe Sleep. Might be the ideal solution for you but helped me not lose work when i shut the display.

If you close the lid when the computer screen is off and is sleepin it wakes up. When you open the screen the mac has no idea what the ****s going on

Thanks for your good explanation. Well observed and thumbs up!
Obviously 10.9.2 didn't fix the problem since i am running it.
My work is saved and everything is as it was after the restart. Its still annoying.
I was just wondering if its a hardware defect.
