MacBook taking longer to Shut Down

Just recently my MacBook (10.6.2) has started to take around a minute to shut down instead of about 2 seconds like it always has done. It displays a lightish blue screen with the loading symbol as seen below the apple logo when starting up any machine. The only thing I have done differently recently is started using an external monitor and kb/mouse. Although I have disconnected all of these and it still does it. I would be grateful of any advice. Thankyou

Mines started doing exactly the same thing over the past few days so i would also like to know.

Mine has started doing this all of a sudden too, Its only about 10-12 seconds but it used to turn off in 2 seconds
