I have a Macbook Aluminum and want to use my LCD TV as a monitor. I went to the Apple sotre yesterday and the guy said no problem just hook these up (I know it's video only not audio). So he gave me Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and the Belkin DVI to HDMI cable. Plugged it in set the TV to the HDMI an all I'm getting is my background on the TV. When I go to any other program like itunes, safari, anything nothing shows up. SO, if any of you guys can help I would be grateful!!! Thanks.

The computer is probably set to extended desktop mode. Open system preferences-->displays, and check "Show displays in menu bar"

Then, in the monitor that appears in the menu bar, click there and select "mirror displays" then it'll create the same thing on the TV as the built in screen.

Just FYI, you can change the setting from the display setting menu, I just don't have mine hooked upto an external monitor, and thus, don't remember where the option is there :]
