MacBook to Television

I have a MiniDVI to Component connector hooked up to my television. Now what do I do, I just have a blank television screen.

Okay, the connector's hooked up, so what about the computer?

Are all the cables in the right place? Go to System Preferences/Displays and hit "Detect Displays".
