I need some help with my MacBook.

While copying a DVD using Toast and I got up to cheek on it and I felt some static electricity and after that my Mac does not work.

It will show something on the screen for a second or two then the screen goes dark and nothing happens. When I restart it, it makes a loud beep.

I fear the hard drive is dead.

Any ideas?

call support, or take it to the store, but leave out the copying DVD part :p

That is what I was thinking. I don’t have and Apple Store close by, but I do have a privately owned Mac store, that shouldn’t be a problem should it?

Thanks

If it's in warranty, or you have AppleCare, call the store and ask them if they can do the repairs. My one AppleCare experience was through a private store, and it went well.

I bought my MacBook in May or June of 2006 so I think it is still under warranty.

I’ll give the store a call and see what they can do.
