My Macbook, since the day i bought it, turns on in about 1 to 2 minutes, it has always been this way. i recently learnt that they were supposed to open up in like seconds. what can i do to improve it? thanks..

If you SHUT DOWN the MacBook after you finished using it, you have to turn it on again, thus the entire operating system (OS) has to boot again, which may take a minute, and depending on the number of LOGIN ITEMS, can take longer.
But when you finished using the MacBook, you can also use the SLEEP feature instead of shutting it down, which will allow you to use the MacBook upon opening the lid or pressing any key or the mouse button almost instantly. It seems you might have got those two confused.
