My 2017 new MacBook Pro if left on charger over 10 hours with no usage and closed lid would be off when I get back in morning.... where I have to click user and log back in..... which loads the user profile.

I do see " an error has occurred, report it to apple?" but what could it be? is this a setting? or normal? or issue?

It is not off. Off would require you to push the power button. It is sleeping. If you don't want it to sleep or want it wait longer to sleep adjust the setting in Preferences. Specifically look at "energy saver". Notice the settings are difference for running on battery and on power adapter

Yes off. I powered it
On from button. which made me pick user like it was shutoff and restored.

then it says error has occurred report? when logged in the OS

Since it is new, take it into Apple and have them check the event log. They can then determine the best course of action. Be sure to back it up though, since the action may be a replacement.
