Hello there, this is my first post, I've been reading Macrumors since 2 years and I love it, but today I'm writing this because I have a problem with my Macbook A1278.
I came back from holidays, a,d when I've tried to login, I told me I entered a wrong password, I was sure of it ! When I tried to reset my password with my apple ID, when entering it, I have noticed that the shift lock key was reverted.. Well I was able to log on, tried to restart, resert PMU, PRAM, nothing successfull.
Also, my trackpad don't physically clic anymore, only touch clic.
I decided to cleaned install OSX 10.8 from another HD but it has not solved the problem.
I've plugged my iMac usb keyboard and it was working perfectly.
So, I've activated the onscreen keyboard in order to check and I noticed the left and right shift key remain pressed !
This explain everything : the shift problem and my macbook always starting in Safe Mode
I've remove both keys to make sure there was nothing under it, but nothing, they are not physically pressed.. I've never spilled anything on my mac, never fallen, I've always take care of it, it doesn't even have a scratch.
So I've installed an app to remap the keyboard and disable the left shift key, this was the faulty one. With the app launched, everything seems to work fine, and the right shift key is working perfectly.
BUT, I still have problem during boot, as it try to start in safe mode, I've to press the Option key to bypass it and start normally.
I can use it like this, but it is very annoying and I'd like to resolve it. What could I do ? Where does the problem come from ? Logic board ? Top case ? I don't really want to spend 200$ buying a used one on Ebay.
Thanks for your time
Ben
