I'm cranking through a handbrake conversion that is taking about 15 hours. Is this a normal CPU temp for a full load? Is it too hot? What are my options.

Looks normal. Handbrake is CPU-heavy and will heat your machine up.

THanks---I just felt the bottom of the machine and lit a cigarette off of it. slid some ice packs under it to cool it and create some space for airflow. Reading 76 after about 10 mins.----and now it's warming up again. Nothing to worry about?

When encoding video, I use SmcFanControl to bump up the RPM of the fan to max, simply because I'm paranoid about overheating (my MBP has reached 100c on numerous occasions) :p

SmcFC is completely safe, since it only allows you to increase the fan speed to *higher* than default.
