First off I did use search and the guides but I wasn't sure exactly how to word my question to find the answer in search...

After reading about the "secret RAM firmware update" I went ahead and installed some new RAM I had laying around waiting for my new 17" MPB for work.

The '08 RAM is DDR3 PC3-8500 (1067 MHz) and the RAM I've tried out is DDR3 PC3-10666 (1333 MHz).

I figured the RAM would work but at the lower speed. But after I installed it, it showed up in the system profiler as 1333 MHz.

So if it is "showing up" as 1333 MHz is that the true speed or is it "clocked down" or whatever to the 1067 MHz?

I was just wanting to know which to go ahead and purchase. Thanks and sorry for my n00bish computer lingo hehe
