I did a complete HD format and reinstall of SL 10.6.0 and now my wifi is absolutely terrible. Restarting the network doesn't fix the issue. My win 7 machine can download the 10.6.8 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 in way under an hour. But with my macbook unibody 2.4 early '09 I'm getting 32kbps and about 9 hours... I do vaguely recall an issue with wifi after getitting the machine. Even to fix the issue I have to be frustrated for 9 hours. It's insane apple can't issue a fix in the firmware rather than just a software update

It's possible that a wifi fix was issued for a version of 10.6 later than 10.6.0.

I'd plug it into an ethernet cable and run SW update. Then see how your wifi runs.

I'm on 10.6.8 with my MB and have no wifi issues.
