hey everyone first new thread
smile.gif

so I order my new MacBook online on the 30th and THE DAY AFTER (according to this site - I didn't actually find out until tonight) they update them! I know you can never expect to own the latest Apple products for very long but this is ridiculous, I haven't even got it yet! haha

so I'm asking do you reckon they'll give me one of the new ones if I call up/go in and explain? I configured it with 2GB RAM and 160GB HDD if that makes any difference? (I would be asking for the same configuration just on the new slightly faster one)

also is it likely they won't because I did it in the free iPod nano student deal?

You will probably get the new one. I don't know how you could tell from just the box. Maybe if you could find the product code that would confirm it.

hey ur lucky... my new one arrived 2 days before the new ones came out. and no they will not upgrade me even though i have not even used it yet :(

you really reckon they'll just ship me a new one? 'cause that would be great! I'm not exactly sure what the product code is.. is it on the receipt/order confirmation you get online?

oh man that sucks :( at least the update isn't huge, I'm just being fussy about it 'cause I know I won't be able to afford another new one in a LONG time lol

yeah i was spewing. woulda loved the bigger 7200rpm hdd. as it is i will have to stick to the 160Gb instead of the 200Gb.

im coming to accept there is nothing i can do to change the situation and have almost stopped feeling sorry for myself

i hope it works out for you - if they havent shipped it yet you may be in luck - give them a call!

Apple has a 14 day return policy, especially when a new model comes out. :x

I wonder what kid of harddrive it will come with keep us updated?

what kind? what do you mean are they new ones different? well I configured my order with a 160GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400rpm) which is what they still say on the apple store

I'd say call Apple and see what they say. The worst that can happen is they will say no. Fortunately for you, it is a relatively minor update and you are getting a great laptop.

Good luck and keep us informed.

If you ordered a standard configuration, you can always cancel it and order a new one.

Sadly, if it was a custom configuration, Apple's policy clearly states that it cannot be returned, as offwidafairies discovered.

Keep in mind that there is a reason why this is a quiet update - it is relatively minor. Mostly an issue if you want to install 4GB of RAM instead of 3, IMO (of course, in some circumstances, extra RAM can result in a significant improvement in performance).

cheers dude :) yeah its not like I'm going to cry myself to sleep every night lol it isn't that big a deal, but I obviously might as well try to wangle myself an even faster one with the cool new keyboard :D

(I saw it here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/380398/)

yeah sure I'll let you guys know what they say, I'll probably ring them tomorrow

well maybe I still have a chance because it was one of their 'popular configurations' ?
