Hi there, moving between countries at the moment so need to stick with a laptop, unfortunately my early 2008 Macbook (2.4ghz, 2gb ram) really bogs down and makes image editing (in particularly RAW processing) an absolute pain rather than pleasure.

I'm trying to save money so was wondering instead of getting the 15" MBP how much performance boost I would get from upgrading to 4gb ram, perhaps a 7200rpm hdd and maybe a SSD in one of those MCE OptiBays. Would using the SSD for the boot drive be quicker or just using it for the aperture library be better?

Anyone got any experience of replacing the optical drive with a SSD? Or better to go for the i5 and better graphics?
