MacBook USB Internet

I have a PC with a DSL "box". It's a Westell Model 6100. My friend has a MacBook. We're trying to put my DSL into her MacBook for Internet because there is no wireless connection available. However, everything but the USB is working. That's the only thing preventing the Internet service. What's going on?
