Macbook - Using the IChat Function

Hi,

I'm pretty sure this is the right place to post this, if not I'm sorry.

I bought my mac 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it, would never go back to a windows ever! The only problem I'm having is getting my IChat to work! It's driving me nuts!!!

When I had my windows I had hotmail and used msn where I could use my webcam, now I have my mac I've downloaded the msn for mac's but as of yet you can't use webcam on that, now I've tried other msn programmes from macs but I'm really not a fan, they make my screen freeze and are just a pain in the bum and to be honest I'd rather use my IChat seen as I have it.

I set up a googlemail account to use IMail and that works perfectly and I can sign in using the jabber account on IChat but it won't let me add my MSN contacts, so I signed up for an AOL account and the same thing happened, it won't allow me to add my MSN contacts. So I was wondering if I was doing something wrong or if someone could advice me on how to set it up properly please.

I live away from home and use webcam to keep in contact with my family etc so I really want to be able to get this programme up and running.

Yes, bit that's using jabber, not the AIM network. Personally I prefer the solution of using Adium. Then all the networks look the same, although it doesn't support webcams yet.

OP have you tried aMSN which is meant to support video chat on MSN?

iChat is not the same as AIM. As noted in the article this is made possible by iChat being able to talk Jabber as well as the AIM protocol. When it's doing this it's not using the AIM network: it's using the Jabber one.

Anyway this is getting off topic...
 
Okay so how do I set it up to use my jabber account, because it's signed in and says its available, but ovbiously not if I can't add my msn contacts...:S
