So, I have really loved my MacBook since the day I got it. However it is starting to frustrate me. A month or so back I noticed I had the "crack book" problem...got it fixed free thankfully. Today the backlight on my screen went out. Thankfully I have 5 days of warranty left w/AppleCare.

When I made the appt at the service center to have it fixed the guy commented "yea these things are designed to last about as long as. AppleCare". Is that a true statement or was he just shooting his mouth off?

Anyway, sorry for the rant, I'm venting...I will once again be sans MacBook again for a few days and it makes me sad.

No, it's not true. It's important to remember than "Genius" is only their job title, and not necessarily an indication of their knowledge, experience or expertise.

I see no need for venting: you're getting your Mac fixed free. Be glad it didn't happen 5 days after AppleCare expired! Now that would be a cause for venting!
