I have the White macbook, my first and love it. Got it 6 months ago.

It came with 1 meg ram, I added a 2 meg chip from newegg, now have 2.5 meg ram.

Can I add another 2gig ram chip and make it a total of 4 megs of ram in this machine?

GB, not megs. Yes, two 2GB sticks will give you 4GB of RAM assuming your computer was bought new 6 months ago.

I just found the box, and says it supports up to 4gb.

I have a 2.1 Ghz intel core 2 duo white.
1 gig ddr2 sdram 512x2

I've got the same MacBook.

It's known as an Early 2008 MacBook (Penryn).

I've put 4Gb RAM in mine and it runs sweeeeeeeeeet!! I got the RAM from Crucial. 2 x 2Gb 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

4MB of RAM...ah the memories...

I think that's what our Performa 577 came with from the factory. My dad spent like $400 to upgrade it to a whopping 20MB.
