It came with 1 meg ram, I added a 2 meg chip from newegg, now have 2.5 meg ram. Can I add another 2gig ram chip and make it a total of 4 megs of ram in this machine?

Yes, two 2GB sticks will give you 4GB of RAM assuming your computer was bought new 6 months ago.
