My macbook just had a rather scary crashout, had to manually pull battery out to turn it off. Completely out of nowhere, screen distorted and white noise screech sound. Is this a known event or am i about to regret spending money on this.

Did holding the power button down for a few seconds not help?

What were you doing at the time of crash and what MacBook do you have, how old is it etc...useful information to know to help ;)

Yeah, those questions and more..

Have to put the battery back in and tried turning it on? What resulted? The noise is kind of weird. Need more info about circumstances of what was going on, what is now, etc.

Thanks for the replies. Its a rev. e 2.1ghz, recently changed HD to 320gb 7200rpm. 3GB ram. I had firefox, mail, msn messenger open at the time, would only have been using 800mb ram or so.
