hi there,

i own a macbook white early 2008 (A1181, 2,4Ghz, Core 2 Duo).
right now i have 2gb of ram and a 160 gb HDD installed.

i'd like to upgrade to 4 gb ram and a 128gb SSD drive.

i just wanted to ask, would those two items fit in my macbook nicely?

>> RAM

>> SSD

i know it sounds kinda easy but i'm quite new to ram and ssd configurations
so... any advice would be appreciated! (just please keep in mind that those
prices are kinda what i can afford right now ;-)

also... i know there is a way to get out the superdrive optical and install a second harddrive
but i've only seen it for unibody macbooks. can this be done with mine too?

thanks so much for your answers!

cheers,

andy

That RAM should work but it only runs at 667MHz while your MacBook supports 800MHz. In real world usage, you would probably never notice the difference though.

The SSD should be fine.

If you want to replace your optical drive with a hard drive or SSD, you would need something like:

However, keep in mind that a hard drive or SSD connected this way will be a bit slower because it is using a PATA to SATA adaptor.

hi pastrychef,

thanks for your reply!

so... if it works i think i might go with the ram i posted.
i don't know if it matters but the ram that is installed right now is
specified as 667Mhz so i thought i might be on the safe side using 667Mhz ram again?!?

i also found this:

>> optibay

maybe i'm in luck tomorrow...
this one should fit, right?

thanks again!
