Ok, I've seen similar posts and just wanted to make sure that this seems to be the general consensus. I've got an '08 White macbook running snow leopard. I believe it got wet while in sleep with the lid closed. It stopped recognizing the battery, so I ordered a new one. It failed to recognize this battery either.

I don't believe it is the charger because the computer itself does not recognize the battery. It may be the logic board, but all other components seem to be fine. The charger terminal, Ethernet, USB, Firewire and audio jacks all function properly. I guess I'm just hopeful that I overlooked something and it isn't the logic board.

To answer your question of what's actually not working it's most likely the MLB on the unit.

The sleep switch plugs into the MLB right under the headphone jack. Most likely the connector is corroded so yeah it's most likely damaged.
