MacBook will only type special characters

So I wiped off my keyboard with a damp rag this morning, without turning it off first. Stupid, I know. But now my keyboard will only type special characters. Did I ruin my keyboard, or is this fixable?

It sounds like you have a modifier key that thinks it is pressed. I have been working on a busted MacBook that has the same problem. I use this software at the moment to disable the offending keys.
