Hi guys, I hope this is the right section to explain my problem:
I have a Macbook (early 2011) with yosemite.
Yesterday I formatted an external hdd with disk utility, nothing strange until I noticed that the name of the macbook's hdd has changed (instead of the label name there is written "Macintosh HD", same as the internal partition). I clicked then on the hdd and I saw that some tabs were missing: I just have the First Aid and Partition tabs on the hdd and First Aid, Erase and Restore tabs on the partition.
So I started looking for some information on the internet and I found out that this might be caused by some problems between disk utility and yosemite. However, looking more carefully the specifications of disk utility, I read this:
- type: logical volume group for the hdd
- format: logical partition for the internal partition
I searched on google for "logical volume group" and I found out (on this forum also) that the problem might be a bit more serious than an incompatibility between yosemite and disk utility.
So I typed diskutil list and diskutil cs list on the terminal (the results are on the attached images)
Correct me if I'm wrong: if didn't have fusion drive, the diskutil list scheme would include /dev/disk2 right? The problem then might be that I inadvertantly created a fusion drive hd in past through an erase of the hdd? On this forum I read that this can be solved by typing diskutil cs delete UUID on the terminal...but I honestly don't know which UUID I should type in, so I decided to consult you before doing any sort of damage. Tell me if you need any other information, thank you in advance.
