All retina models come with soldered ram. Anything before that is not soldered on.

Retina MBP onwards, 2012-present (Except the Classic MBP that was on sale until the new ones last month). So you're looking at the 2008-2012 generation.

Then if i want any retina mbp, the best i can do is to buy one with 16gb. I like to use it for photography, Photoshop, ...
