So upon booting my Macbook, it refuses to do so, and gets stuck on the grey screen. I've tried all the tips on the Apple support site - except for the FireWire target disk mode - and have thus made an appointment with the Apple Genius Bar for tomorrow. All the reports from other users say this is typically a HD problem of some sort, and that Apple will most likely wipe my hard drive first thing
. I have a TM backup for OS X, so that isn't a problem.
My question is this: I recently installed Windows in Boot Camp. I have not backed anything up in Windows, and everything I have is re-installable (either free software downloads or else games). But all and all, about 10 hours of work re-downloading and installing. Is there some way I can recover this data through the FireWire target disk mode? Will I have to reinstall Windows if I do?
