hi,
i just restarted and it stopped booting up i just get the apple logo and the infinite looping circle ... so in hopes of keeping my data i take the harddrive out and plug it in an external enclosure i can see all my files but i cant copy them off it just stays at 1% any ideas on what to do?

thanks
p.s the hard drive isn't making any weird noises

try to boot holding down command s, it will boot in single user world, hit command and s as soon as you see the loop, and keep holding it until it boots. hope this works. or you could try verbose mode, to see what the problem really is. you can do that by command v, hope this helps
