Hi everyone,

A few days ago my mac charger broke so I used my friend's charger once to just get some battery power. I didn't realize that using his charger (macbook 2011) was not good for the computer but it turned the computer on but simply wouldn't charge the battery; I didn't think this was a big issue just the compatibility was off.

However, when I got my charger the computer would turn on but again would not charge and this time a blue screen appears right after the gray apple screen but it immediately goes to my log in. I'm not sure if these are two separate issues or if they are interrelated.

I am currently in college and getting a new computer is not feasible for me. Is there anyway that this may just be a battery issue and is the fact I see a blue screen a significant issue?

Thank you so much for your help I really appreciate it.

It won't harm your computer to use another MB charger.

That's the normal process.... grey screen, then blue screen, then login.

The blue screen you see before the login screen is normal. It's not a sign of anything wrong. It's not like the Windows blue screen of death.

If you're having problems charging, try resetting the SMC (instructions in the link below under CHARGING). This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

Thanks for your quick response! Everything you've said makes me feel a lot better. An additional issue that I didn't mention was for about a day my computer would not respond even when I used various different chargers. It would not power on or anything. Would this be an indication of a logic board problem or should I just not ask questions and think of it coming back as good luck.
