Hi,

I just bought and installed a new superdrive into my macbook pro 15" mid 2010.

On Safety mode (cmd + R) it recognises the drive in disc utility and allows the eject function.

However, when the mac is on in normal mode, it does not recognise it.
in System Information, it shows up under "Serial ATA" but not on DVD etc

HELP! I'm convinced that this is a firmware thing because the drive itself is new and appears to be working fine is safe mode.

Adam.

I think the new superdrives are only compatible with new macs without a built in optical drive.

System Requirements from apple website
Compatible with the following computers:
MacBook Pro with Retina display
MacBook Air
iMac (late 2012) and later
Mac mini (late 2009) and later
Mac Pro (late 2013)

no, this drive is definitely the version compatible with my model.

any other info?
