I inherited a 15" MacBook pro 2009. It has a 3.06 core 2 processor.
When you press the power button the fans come on but there is chime, the screen remains black, and the sleep light never comes on. I have removed the logic board and inspected it for liquid damage and the is no signs of it just dust.
I have tried all the usual smc resets etc. including changing the ram.
Would this be an issue with the video chip. I have a small reflow station.
 
I'll first suggest to check the display connector, and also try connecting it to an external monitor to see if it's a screen problem.
 
Nothing just fans. The1 starts up then the second one a second later but it does charge the battery.
 
Possibly dead capacitor on motherboard that stops gpu working, I recall reading this was a common failure on 2009 models after a few years of heavy use.
