HI,
I'm hoping someone can help me. My MacBook has suddenly decided not to start up, at all. It has not suffered any physical damage. It was working fine about two hours ago, and now it will not start, by battery alone or by charger. I tried switching the battery with an extra, new battery, but that had no effect. I thought maybe I could start up from the system disc, but it won't even slide in and stay.

I would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks!

no nothing? does it go so far that you hear the startup sound? i suppose not, maybe you could check if your RAM is seated properly.

Thanks for answering! No, nothing. A couple of times I thought I heard a sound like the disc drive turning, but there is no disc in there. (Yes, I checked.)

When you say to check if the RAM is seated properly, is that something that could become "unseated" when it's just sitting, unused, on a table, and it worked fine only a couple of hours before?

normally no, but i don't have any other idea right now, sorry.

Hi, Thanks for answering!

Do you mean these instructions?

MacBook, MacBook Pro

If the computer is on, turn it off.
Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
Press the Power button to restart the computer.

I have tried this several times. The computer just won't start up. I can hear something like a motor starting up, but there is no tone, and the screen remains black.

Are any of the small holes, on the side with the ports, a reset button?

Thanks

no, there's no reset button on mbook's as far as i know of. there used to be on older models. the instructions is all there is. i think you should call apple or go to an apple store.
