My Macbook (abut a year 1/2 old) started making a clicking noise four days ago and when I put it to sleep it wouldn't turn back on. I manually restarted the laptop but it just kept continually making the sound of the computer starting and about 10 minutes later the blue screen finally showed up and it worked. It works fine when it's on but whether or not I can get it to turn on is another story.

I live in the middle of nowhere (nearest Apple store is about 10 hours away) and I need my computer for schoolwork. I was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions other than taking it to get fixed

thanks!

Sounds to me like the hard drive is dying. Get a backup drive ASAP if you do not have one.

When hard drives start producing errors you will see substantial slowdowns as the read process throws an error and the drive stops & resets to try again.
