Macbook won't turn on!!! =[

HELPPP

I have a 13" Macbook and when I press the power button, the disc runs, the sleep light comes on, and then it just shuts off immediately. This all lasts aboput 3 seconds. I've tried taking out the battery, I've also plugged in the power cord while doing this. Any ideas guys??

Sounds like a hardware issue. Take it to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Repair Center and get it looked at.

yes it is...i got it on christmas last year

If you live near an Apple Store then make a genius appointment - if not phone Apple and they will no doubt talk you through resetting the power-management and the PRAM.

You could try those in the meantime but I don't think it will make any difference....

No beep and not staying on is usually a sign of the CPU not working, as long as you haven't turned the sound down/off. Though it could be something simple like the DC board not supplying the power also, or in the case of the desktop the PSU on the fritz.

My cousin recently had a problem similar to this.

Is there a disk in the CD drive?

Is anything plugged into the USB ports?

Unplug anything you've got plugged into it except power, press the on button while holding the eject key. Get the disk out of there. Does it turn on now?

You can try resetting to pram which just resets a few settings, trust me it'll be okay afterwards. See?? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

Without reading that you can just believe me and press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys as you hit the power button, don't let go of those keys.

Try turning it on again, did that work?

Hrmmmm. Well you could try turning it on while holding the option key, does your hard drive show up? If it does click the little above the influence type symbol and start your computer.

dang, none of those worked....=/


like it literally WON'T do anything
i'll hit power,hear the cd drive boot up, then it'll shut off

now, if i hold down the power button, it starts to blink, then will shut off

the screen doesnt light up or anything....all i see is the sleep light come on

Make the call to Apple or book a genius appointment.

The only other thing is to try removing and reseating the RAM - last resort but somehow I think the logicboard is fried.

If it is still under warranty - no cost - Apple will repair.

Is it convenient to take it Apple Store ?
You can confirm that the MacBook is still under warranty by getting the serial number off the gray label under the battery and then enter it here
