Can anyone confirm whether this is a hard drive sata cable issue or something else? My 2010 macbook pro will just show a white screen forever as in it won't load anything. Tried a different hard drive and same thing. But if I remove the hard drive from the cable and boot it up it will show the message that there is no disc drive available.
Also it will boot from the OSX CD but when I try to install the OS to a hard drive it will not detect the HD. Basically it has a problem recognizing the hard drives (tried 2 different ones).. could it be the sata cable?

Sounds about right. My 2009 had a couple hard drive cables replaced. White screen on startup with the question mark folder or a planet instead of the Apple.
