I have a 2008 MacBook and I tried to wake it up and it came up with a blank screen with the arrow still working, but nothing else happening. I tried to close it and open it again a few times but nothing still so I had to hold the power button to turn it off.
I just booted it back up and checked the Console logs, I attached the ones for the time it happened in hope that someone here can make sense of them.
I'm going to repair my permissions now just in case, but it might be worth noting that I did so very recently.
EDIT: Just repaired the permissions, it repaired a LOT of stuff, but that could be because of the forced shut down. I noticed it did say it repaired a few of the things mentioned in the Console log though.
