Tried resetting SMC, different chargers, cleaned contacts, all that. If you're going to recommend a general fix like this, I've already done it.
Tested with: Old style Magsafe 60w (Macbook2,1 stock), new style Magsafe 60w (previous gen 13" MBP), and new style Magsafe 85w (2010 15" MBP).
I have the stock apple battery which holds no charge at all, and a brand new AGETEK replacement battery. Behavior does not change with either battery.
When I plug in the magsafe charger, half the time it is very dim green and shows the AC Adapter is connected but battery is not charging in menu bar. Other half of the time it comes on green except at full brightness. Occasionally if I am lucky, it will switch between full green and amber every 5-10 seconds and go between Not Charging in the menu bar.
The replacement battery came with about 75% charge, I let it drain until 10% to see if that would help, but it only charged for a few seconds before going back to Not Charging.
Is this representative of a larger problem? I just bought this Macbook used and don't want to wait on it too long if it's a hardware problem.
For the record, I did a full test with ASD 3S116 showed no problems.
