Hello MacRumors Forums, glad to be here!
I'm new here, but I could not find any answers to my question on any threads, so here it goes:
Have anyone discovered a way to use the MBA (or MB) Audio Port for recording and monitoring/listening simultanously?
I know the port is multi directional, since it is possible to connect an iPhone headset and use the mic and head phones simultanously. I'm pretty sure it's actually even stereo in AND stereo out, since the mic in the iPhone headset is stereo (for some reason.)
Would it be possible to just use a TRRS connector:

to 2 stereo 3,5 mm TRS:

The reason why I want to do this is that I would like to record guitar (and ideally vocals too) while monitoring on external speakers or headphones. I only use my MBA in my home for drafts and ideas to take to the studio, so I do not want to use an audio interface, but rather the (in my opinion very good) internal sound card in my MBA. I realize that using the internal mic and speakers is and option, but the quality is (though surprisingly good) a little too shaky for my taste. Also: It is so obvious - it would be so easy and simple, if it was possible...
Why has no-one done this?
Hope someone can help!
